Poor Sleep

Tossing and turning all night? If your slumber is suboptimal you’ll often feel unrefreshed the next day and even achy. At Platinum Spinal Centre, we focus on helping patients achieve restful sleep and optimal spinal health. Our unique approach combines chiropractic care and innovative solutions to help you snooze better naturally.

Proper Neck Support

One of the key components of our sleep support program is the use of water pillows, a medical-grade device. Unlike traditional pillows, they offer significant benefits, as the water migrates and fills the gaps while you snooze. This ensures your neck, which is the weakest part of your spine, receives the right support throughout the night.

The water pillow does the thinking for you, enhancing comfort and promoting proper spinal alignment. Our dedicated team will guide you in adjusting the volume of water to ensure the pillow provides the perfect fit and support for your personal needs.

Sleep Positions Matter

At Platinum Spinal Centre, we emphasise the significance of slumber positions in maintaining spinal health. We strongly advise against snoozing on your stomach, as it forces your neck into an unnatural twisted position for extended periods. This may lead to strain and discomfort in the delicate nerves, muscles, tendons, and ligaments of your neck.

Instead, we recommend sleeping on your back or side. Slumbering on your back allows proper breathing and expansion of your ribs, ensuring optimal ventilation. Side snoozing is also favourable, especially for pregnant women, as it promotes healthy circulation and reduces strain on the lower back. Placing a pillow between the knees may also help prevent over-rotation of the pelvis, minimising discomfort.

We also provide guidance on choosing the right mattress, recommending ACA approved mattresses endorsed by the Australian Chiropractors Association. These mattresses offer excellent support and alignment without breaking the bank.

Our team also offers professional advice on establishing healthy sleep routines. The human body thrives on rhythm, so maintaining consistent shut-eye and wake-up times is important.

To optimise your sleep environment, we suggest turning off devices and avoiding blue light exposure at least 30 minutes before bedtime to prevent disrupting your natural sleep cycle. Creating a cool and comfortable sleep environment also contributes to better slumber quality.
